We are recruiting an experienced Operations Manager for a long-established engineering business based in the Coventry area.
The Role
- Managing the daily operation of the engineering workshop
- Leading, motivating and developing engineers, technicians and apprentices
- Planning workloads and allocating labour, machinery and resources
- Monitoring work in progress, turnaround times and delivery dates
- Ensuring repair, overhaul and manufacturing work meets customer requirements
- Managing workshop productivity, utilisation and performance
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and quality
- Reviewing job costs, labour hours and material usage
- Identifying and resolving workshop delays or technical issues
- Coordinating equipment maintenance and workshop improvements
- Supporting quotations, job planning and technical reviews
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal departments
- Recruiting, training and developing workshop employees
- Driving continuous improvement across processes and working practices
About You
- Experience managing an engineering, manufacturing, repair or maintenance workshop
- Strong people-management and workshop-planning experience
- The ability to manage labour, workloads and competing priorities
- A good understanding of job costing, budgets and operational KPIs
- Knowledge of health and safety, quality systems and workshop compliance
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- A practical, hands-on leadership style
- Excellent communication and customer-management skills
- Experience with electric motors, generators, rotating machinery, rewinds or specialist industrial repairs would be particularly advantageous.
