Are you an experienced Fire Engineer looking to work on a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential projects? Our client, a leading provider of fire safety solutions, is seeking a Fire Commissioning Engineer to join their growing team in the West Midlands.
The Role
As a Fire Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire alarm, suppression, and detection systems. You will work on-site with clients to ensure systems are fully compliant, operational, and safe, supporting both new installations and existing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out commissioning, testing, and fault-finding on fire alarm and detection systems.
- Inspect and maintain fire suppression systems in line with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Ensure full compliance with BS 5839, BS 5306, and other relevant fire safety standards.
- Produce detailed commissioning reports and documentation for clients.
- Liaise with clients, providing clear updates and technical explanations.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system faults efficiently.
- Support project handover and ensure systems are fully operational.
- Occasionally assist with installation, wiring, and integration of new systems.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in fire system commissioning, testing, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of fire alarm, detection, and suppression systems.
- Understanding of relevant fire safety standards and regulations (BS 5839, BS 5306, etc.).
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Flexible approach to site work, with occasional travel.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- NICET, BAFE, or equivalent fire systems certification.
- Experience with sprinkler systems and complex fire suppression solutions.
- Electrical installation or fault-finding experience.
- Experience in commissioning for commercial and industrial projects.
