You must be willing to get your hands dirty in a heavy plant environment and not be averse to training and developing your skills further. If you are qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) either via an apprenticeship and/or college and have experience with some of the following then please do apply:

Suitable candidates will ideally also have some form of maintenance, fitting or servicing experience, preferably gained in an industrial, production or manufacturing environment.

This is a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter position, working 12 hour shifts 4 on 4 off (Days/Nights).

Working in a team of motivated Engineers, day shifts are often more reactive, responding to breakdowns and line issues, while the night shifts are often more proactive, undertaking PPM, Continuous Improvement and Project Work.

Planned Preventative Maintenance across a range of equipment and machinery. Assisting with planned shutdowns and project work, refurbishing machines and replacing worn parts. The production machinery is often large and heavy, so you will be trained how to work safely on the plant to check, repair or replace belts, bearings, motors, gears, pumps, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics etc. Those with mechanical skills within production/manufacturing environments would be ideal.

Have completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold Mechanical Engineering qualifications (NVQ or C&G) at Level 3 or higher. Experience with mechanical maintenance, mechanical fitting or servicing work, ideally within industrial and/or production/manufacturing environments.

Have experience with some of the following:

  • pneumatics
  • MIG / Arc welding and fabrication

Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and/or drive chain fault finding is highly beneficial, as is some Electrical control systems experience. The ability to think outside the box to solve mechanical challenges & issues. Must enjoy working as part of a team, delivering PPM, continuous improvement, investigating long term solutions to regular problems.
