Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter (Temp to Perm) Hours: 6:00am to 6:00pm, 4 on 4 off Permanent Days Salary: Β£49,000 to Β£57,000 per annum Location: Commutable from Faversham, Rainham, Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester, Canterbury and surrounding areas This position will initially start on a 46 month contract, with the intention of becoming permanent thereafter. Company An established manufacturing company operating from a new, state-of-the-art factory is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join its successful maintenance team. You must be comfortable working in a heavy plant environment and willing to get hands-on with machinery maintenance, repairs and improvement work. You should also be open to further training and developing your skills. Suitable candidates will ideally have completed a Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or hold a relevant mechanical qualification. You should have experience with some of the following: bearings, motors, pumps, gears, belts, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and fabrication. Previous maintenance, mechanical fitting or servicing experience gained within an industrial, production or manufacturing environment would be highly beneficial. Responsibilities This is a temp-to-perm Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter position, working permanent day shifts from 6:00am to 6:00pm on a 4 on 4 off pattern. Completing Planned Preventative Maintenance across a wide range of production equipment and machinery. Fault finding, diagnosing mechanical problems and completing effective repairs. Supporting planned shutdowns, improvement projects and machinery refurbishments. Replacing, repairing and aligning worn mechanical components. Identifying recurring equipment problems and helping to develop long-term solutions. Supporting Continuous Improvement activities throughout the factory. Accurately recording maintenance work and contributing to the ongoing improvement of the CMMS. Skills & Experience Required Have completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or hold a Mechanical Engineering qualification, such as an NVQ or City & Guilds at Level 3 or above. Experience within mechanical maintenance, mechanical fitting or servicing, ideally gained in an industrial, production or manufacturing environment. MIG or Arc welding and fabrication experience would be desirable. Strong mechanical fault-finding, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. The ability to think practically and find effective solutions to mechanical problems.
