My client has been awarded the contract to maintain Surrey Highways for the next 10 years plus.
They are seeking dedicated and skilled Highway Maintenance Workers to deliver the contract. These roles are permanent opportunities that include benefits e.g. Holiday pay, Pension, sick pay, death in service. This is a great opportunity for experienced Highways Operatives to develop their careers. Full training and qualifications will be provided.
Working in Surrey this role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and functionality of our highways and roadways. The ideal candidate will have experience in Highways maintenance including:
- Drainage
- Patching
- White Works
- Responsive Repairs
- Structural work
Relevant qualifications such as NRSWA Operatives Units 1 – 9, NHSS 12AB or NHSS 12D, HGV class 2 would be a benefit.
A full manual driving license is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Highway Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks on highways, roads, and associated infrastructure. This includes pothole repairs, surface treatments, drainage maintenance, and roadside verge management.
- Patching of potholes
- Conduct reinstatement activities in compliance with company standards, health and safety regulations, and relevant industry codes of practice.
- Repair road surfaces, footpaths, and verges by accurately matching materials, textures, and colours to ensure a seamless integration with existing surfaces.
- Operate various tools and machinery, including but not limited to pneumatic drills, pedestrian rollers, compactors, and tarmac rollers, to complete reinstatement work efficiently and to the required standards.
- Prepare excavation areas by removing debris, compacting sub-layers, and applying appropriate layers of materials such as tarmac, asphalt, and concrete.
- Install, adjust, and repair ironwork, kerbs, and drainage systems as necessary.
- Assist in the identification of underground utilities and ensure the protection of existing services during reinstatement work.
Requirements:
- Experience:Proven experience in highway maintenance or traffic management. Previous work with road repairs, traffic control, or similar tasks is highly desirable.
- Skills:Strong understanding of road safety regulations and maintenance practices. Ability to operate relevant machinery and equipment proficiently. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Qualifications:Relevant certifications in highway maintenance or Traffic management. Such as Highways NRSWA Operatives Units 1 – 9, NHSS 12AB, NHSS 12D
- Communication:Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members, the public, and other stakeholders.
- Driving License:A valid UK driving license is required. A category C or C+E license is preferred.
