About the Client Our client is a highly respected digital transformation consultancy dedicated to designing, building, and scaling secure public sector services across the UK. Known for fostering collaborative and innovative environments, they help modernise critical digital infrastructure while adhering to rigorous national standards. Role Summary As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a central role in delivering secure, scalable, and highly available digital services. Embedded within an agile, multidisciplinary team, you will drive end-to-end automation, build infrastructure as code (IaC), and enable rapid, reliable deployment from discovery through to live operation. Key Responsibilities Pipeline Management: Design, build, and maintain deployment pipelines and automation using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins, ensuring alignment with national government digital standards. Agile Collaboration: Embed end-to-end automation across build, test, deployment, and infrastructure management to maximize operational efficiency. Best Practice Champion: Promote DevOps principles, conduct IaC reviews, share technical knowledge, and contribute to the broader delivery community. System Support & Monitoring: Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues to ensure high availability and performance, participating in second-line support and incident response where required. Proven expertise in designing and operating continuous integration and deployment pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Cloud & IaC: Strong proficiency with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) alongside IaC tools like Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible. Scripting & Programming: Solid hands-on coding or scripting ability in Python, Go, Bash, JavaScript, or PowerShell. DevOps Methodology: Sound knowledge of version control (Git), automated testing, security-by-design, and collaborative Agile workflows. Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as React.
