Frontier Resourcing are partnering with a leading defence and national security organisation, offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies within a highly innovative engineering environment. This role is ideal for an experienced Test Development Engineer looking to play a key role in the design, development, and support of advanced test solutions across complex electronic systems.

You will be responsible for the design, manufacture, verification, validation, and lifecycle support of test equipment at board, subsystem, and system level. With a strong focus on R&D and emerging technologies, this position offers excellent scope to further develop your technical expertise while working on highly sophisticated aerospace and defence projects.

The Role

  • Design and develop functional test equipment for complex electronic systems
  • Lead and support hardware and software integration activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and system-level issues
  • Provide production and lifecycle support, including obsolescence management
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust and scalable test solutions
  • Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation
  • Lead design reviews and support transition into production

Required Experience

  • Proven experience developing test solutions, not solely executing test programmes
  • Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design
  • Excellent hardware fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience supporting and debugging system integration activities
  • Ability to produce comprehensive technical documentation
  • Experience managing design handover into production environments
  • Test software development experience

Desirable Experience

  • Mentor Graphics schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • PXI and LXI-based test architectures
  • Measurement uncertainty and its application in test equipment validation
  • Experience with NI LabVIEW, NI CVI, NI TestStand, or C#
  • Mixed-signal circuit design experience
