A small design and manufacturing company that specialises in Subsea Engineering in Hampshire is seeking a Design Manager to lead their dedicated design team and support major renewables, telecoms, and power distribution projects. The role combines hands-on mechanical/structural design with team leadership. You will manage workload, guide designers, and review work, ensuring quality across concept, detail design, and project delivery.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree
- Strong practical design ability
- Leadership experience or the ability to step up into a leading/management role
- Experience of similar design work of equipment or machinery or steel-related work projects
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Excel
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the design team, demonstrating strong leadership skills
- Plan and deliver design work to ISO9001 standards
- Support bids, create design documents, manage design packages
- Review/approve drawings, calculations, and reports
- Provide technical support through build and commissioning
- Improve design processes and manage lessons learned
- Researching, costing, specifying, and ordering brought in and manufactured components
