The Project Engineering department is responsible for the design and delivery of PAVA and control systems comprising of the products of our client and their suppliers. The systems are designed, built and tested in-house before being dispatched to our customers. The Project Engineer acts as the Technical Lead for projects and will support them from inception through the whole life cycle of design and implementation, factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT). You will support the Project Manager to ensure the system is delivered to specification and on time. This will include coordination with other functions including Sales, Operations and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design of PAVA system including 19 rack layout and connectivity
- Design of PAVA control system via single and networked workstations
- Configuration of IP-based public address and voice alarm systems to interface with control systems
- Produce project-specific documentation (covering system design, testing and project handover)
- Support rack production process including system testing
- Document and manage factory acceptance testing of systems
- Design and support customer upgrade and migration plans
- Support the commissioning of systems at customer sites when required
- Support Project Manager to deliver projects on time and to specification
- Support any ongoing maintenance and support obligations
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and that contractual obligations are met
- Understand company processes and work within them
- Foster a full-ownership culture across the project lifecycle
Experience Required
- Experience within an engineering / technical role within a project delivery organisation
- Knowledge of public address / voice alarm and / or Linux (Ubuntu) control systems
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking knowledge with a good understanding of Multicast
- Knowledge of acoustic principles, DSP routers, loudspeaker zoning and 100V line amplification
- Knowledge of IP-based audio distribution, PoE, and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SIP, VLANs)
- Experience producing project design documentation (e.g. ITP, FAT etc.)
- Experience producing and reviewing CAD documentation
- Competence in on-site installations, cable preparation and termination and the setting up and testing of low-voltage systems (including systems which interface with third party systems such as fire alarm panels (knowledge of BS 5839-8 / EN54-16 compliance beneficial))
- Experience working with customers, colleagues and stakeholders to resolve technical and logistical problems, taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
- Experience reporting and managing technical risks and issues and their mitigations throughout the project life cycle

Education & Qualifications
- The candidate will hold a higher education qualification in a relevant subject such as Engineering or Computer Science or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience
- Relevant site safety certification such as CSCS card or equivalent
