Due to continued growth, our client, a well-established specialist engineering business supporting municipal fleets is looking to recruit an Electrical Fitter / Auto Electrician. The workshop supports refurbishment/remanufacture, preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a mixed fleet of specialist vehicles and related equipment.
You will be responsible for electrical installation, fault-finding and repair across heavy vehicles and body equipment, ensuring safe, reliable vehicles to a high-quality finish.
Key responsibilities:- Electrical installation, modification and repair on specialist vehicles / municipal vehicles
- Fault-finding using test equipment; diagnose issues and implement robust repairs
- Read and interpret vehicle wiring diagrams/schematics
- Loom repairs/builds, terminations, crimping, routing, protection and secure cable management
- Electrical checks as part of refurbishment/remanufacturing work packs (quality control and sign-off support)
- Support safe working practices and workshop standards (housekeeping/5S mindset)
- Proven experience as an Auto Electrician / Vehicle Electrical Fitter (HGV/plant/municipal beneficial)
- Confident on 12/24V systems (CANbus knowledge advantageous)
- Able to work from wiring diagrams and follow build/repair instructions
- Strong workmanship, attention to detail, and a safety-first attitude
- NVQ/C&G in Auto Electrical / Vehicle Maintenance / Electrical Engineering
- Experience with body equipment/aux systems (e.g., bin lift/body electrics, interlocks, safety systems)
