Due to continued growth, we are now seeking an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Estimator to join their commercial team. Assistant Estimator Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in an estimating or quantity surveying role within groundworks, RC frame, or civil engineering.
  • A good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and measurement principles.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and basic familiarity with estimating software.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider pre-construction team.
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn from senior estimators and progress within the business.

Assistant Estimator Duties:

  • Assist senior estimators in reviewing and analysing tender documentation to understand scope and requirements.
  • Support in the take-off and measurement of quantities from drawings and specifications.
  • Help in preparing cost estimates and bills of quantities under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and clarify scope of works.
  • Assist in the evaluation and comparison of supplier/subcontractor quotations.
  • Maintain accurate records of tender documents, correspondence, and cost data.
  • Contribute to the identification of risks and value engineering opportunities.
  • Help prepare tender submission documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
  • Attend internal tender review meetings and provide administrative and analytical support.
  • Participate in post-tender reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future submissions.
