Operations Manager X2 - Complex Weapons in Bristol

On behalf of MoD - Navy Command, we are looking for X2 Operations Manager - Complex Weapons (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (two days per week onsite - Abbey Wood, Bristol).

Job Purpose: The Operations Manager will provide operations management support across the Complex Weapons team. The post holder will support the existing Operations Managers and Control Account Managers in the coordination, planning, control and delivery of in-service support activities, contract outputs and project artefacts. The role will support acquisition planning, governance, approvals, stakeholder engagement, financial control, risk management, schedule control, supplier engagement and delivery reporting. The post holder will also assist in drafting and coordinating key project and approvals artefacts, including System Requirements, Statements of Requirement, Invitations to Negotiate, Outline Business Cases and Full Business Cases.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role; as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

As an Operations Manager - Complex Weapons, your main responsibilities will be to:

• Support the development and implementation of acquisition strategies aligned with Category A Approval requirements, project objectives and wider programme outcomes.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, requirements, deliverables, assumptions, dependencies and operational priorities.
• Support the WH2 team and Torps ISS Operations Managers in planning, coordinating and monitoring activity across Heavyweight and Lightweight support workstreams.
• Support the Complex Weapons Control Account Managers in managing contract outputs, supplier performance, delivery milestones, financial information and supporting evidence.
• Assist in the drafting, review and coordination of System Requirements, Statements of Requirement, Invitations to Negotiate, Outline Business Cases and Full Business Cases.
• Support the preparation, assurance and submission of documentation required for Category A Approval and related MOD governance activity.

Essential:

• Experience of operations management in a project, programme, engineering, logistics, support or defence-related environment.
• Experience supporting MOD approvals, public-sector approvals or equivalent governance and assurance activity.
• Experience supporting the development of business case, procurement, requirements or contract documentation.
• Experience managing actions, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, schedules and management information in a project or programme environment.
• Experience of MOD systems such as NAWDAS and MJDID.

Desirable:

• Previous military service experience.
• Experience supporting Category A acquisition activity, strategic approvals, OBC or FBC development.
• Experience supporting Tactical Development firing trials, operational trials, training activity or in-water trials.
• Experience working with Navy Command, defence suppliers, contract delivery teams or operational support organisations.
