An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established regional contractor delivering high-quality new build, refurbishment and restoration projects across the residential, healthcare, commercial and education sectors throughout Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.
Projects typically range in value from £300k to £5m, including technically challenging and design-led schemes where attention to detail and commercial accuracy are critical.
Estimator Role Description:
As Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction phase, producing accurate and competitive tenders while working closely with the commercial, design and delivery teams. You will be involved from early feasibility through to final tender submission, contributing to bid strategy, risk assessment and value engineering.
Estimator Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for new build, refurbishment and restoration projects
- Taking off quantities from drawings, specifications and schedules
- Assessing tender documentation and identifying risks and opportunities
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Working closely with design, commercial and construction teams during pre-construction
- Producing competitive tender submissions in line with client requirements
- Assisting with value engineering and cost planning exercises
- Attending pre-tender meetings, site visits and post-tender negotiations where required
Estimator Criteria:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within a main or regional contractor environment
- Experience with refurbishment, restoration or listed buildings is advantageous
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and pricing
- Excellent numerical, analytical and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Construction-related qualification or relevant trade background
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Full UK Driving Licence
