An established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Composite Prepreg Laminator to support ongoing production programmes. This is a hands-on, site-based role working within a controlled clean-room environment on high-quality aerospace components. The position involves the lay-up of carbon and glass fibre prepreg materials, vacuum bagging, and support of autoclave curing processes in line with aerospace quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out hand lay-up of carbon fibre and glass fibre prepreg materials in a clean-room environment
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, ply books, lay-up schedules, and work instructions
- Cut, orient, and place prepreg plies in accordance with fibre orientation and laminate build requirements
- Perform vacuum bagging operations, including correct use of release films, breather, bleeder, and vacuum lines
- Prepare tools and moulds, including application of release agents to approved procedures
- Support autoclave loading and unloading, ensuring correct documentation and material traceability
- Conduct in-process checks to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards
- Maintain strict control of material handling, out-life management, freezer storage, and traceability
- Adhere to clean-room discipline, FOD prevention, and HSE requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, yield, and cycle time
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in prepreg composite lay-up
- Proven experience with carbon fibre and glass fibre prepreg materials
- Experience working in a clean-room aerospace environment
- Strong understanding of ply orientation, fibre direction, and laminate build sequences
- Practical experience with vacuum bagging for autoclave curing
- Ability to read and understand aerospace drawings and process documentation
- High attention to detail and strong quality awareness
