The Industrial Engineering role will be incorporated into the Manufacturing Engineering department which is responsible for establishing and continuously improving the Manufacturing Engineering organization and related engineering team, competencies, processes, tools and standards across all manufacturing locations. This role partners across manufacturing, engineering and supporting functions to effectively bring new products to market, create and improve world class operations for primaries, welding, paint, assembly, packing/bundling, load building and other core manufacturing processes. This position is also responsible for enabling a culture of change, transformation, and development in manufacturing through continuous improvement and lean concepts and philosophies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Engineering / Manufacturing Technology is preferred or equivalent work experience
- Working knowledge driving and implementing continuous improvement efforts
- Proven team player, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and partner
- Ability to exercise sound judgement to balance business needs and achieve objectives
- Strong oral, written and presentation skills at all levels of an organization
- Ability to organize and manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities
- Action-oriented, self-starter
Preferred Skills:
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft office tools
- Working knowledge of manufacturing systems and tools such as ERP, MES, Solidworks, PDM, and AutoCAD
- Provide data/data analytics in support of departmental and other functional areas needs
Job Duties:
- Lead large, complex projects, of substantial cost and impact to the organization as needed
- Helps conduct constraint analysis and capacity planning initiatives and supports and executes plans to design and implement improvements to manufacturing layouts, equipment, tools, workforce plans, technology and solutions to ensure capacity meets demand
- Key stakeholder in new product development process with emphasis on design for manufacturability on the front end, seamless launch, and ownership on the back end in the areas of labor standards, layouts, and flow
- Focused on Safety, Ergonomics, Quality, First Pass Yield, Material Presentation, Material Flow, Inventory Reduction, Cost Reduction, Product Availability, Capacity, and Productivity
- Ensures the Industrial Engineering role stays current with best practices, trends, advancements, and incorporates this knowledge into new products and processes
- Routinely make decisions to resolve manufacturing problems to meet customer safety, design, quality, delivery, and cost expectations
- Review, recommend, prioritize and support process and machine/equipment development activities to include capital equipment justification, specification, and procurement
- Responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes that are safe, ergonomic, robust, repeatable, process capable, and balanced
- Responsible for developing process documents, work instructions, and accurate costing
- Responsible for the deployment of labor production targets, by line or area that are measured, visible, obtainable, and are displayed on a real time basis
- Actively pursues and implements continuous improvement tools and methods such as Design for Manufacturability and Assembly, process FMEA’s, and Lean initiatives that ensure manufacturing operations production processes meet or exceed customer expectations
- Teaching and developing a culture of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
