This is a brilliant opportunity to join a well-established international business at a really exciting point in its journey. Our client is a market leader in its field, with a long-standing reputation for quality and innovation. With continued growth and investment on the horizon – including a major ERP upgrade – they're now looking for an Assistant Accountant to strengthen their finance team.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in both the day‑to‑day finance function and wider business improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting the production of monthly management accounts and KPI reporting
- Leading on balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
- Taking an active role in year‑end audit and statutory accounts prep
- Managing payroll and ensuring compliance, including BIK reporting
- Overseeing VAT returns (including non-UK) and import/export documentation
- Supporting cashflow, forex activities and external relationships
- Leading, mentoring and developing two junior team members
- Driving process improvements and helping reduce manual processes
- Playing a key role in an upcoming ERP system upgrade
You'll be someone who enjoys getting stuck in, spotting improvements, and taking ownership.
Requirements- Part-qualified (AAT Level 3+) or qualified by experience
- Strong all‑round accounts experience (journals, reconciliations, month‑end)
- Confident working with large data sets and Excel
- Experience with payroll and associated reporting
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring others is a plus
- Exposure to international trade / VAT would be beneficial
- £35,000 – £40,000 salary
- Annual performance-related bonus
