Interim Management Accountant (12 months) β Higher Education
Location: Liverpool (Hybrid β 3 days per week on site)
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Interim Management Accountant to join a leading University in Liverpool on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role focuses on Research and Development finance and involves managing a small but efficient team within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities-
Lead, motivate, and develop a small finance team, ensuring objectives and deadlines are met.

Support the financial management of Research and Enterprise funding, from application through to project closure.

Provide accurate and timely management information, including budgeting, forecasting, and KPI reporting.

Ensure compliance with University financial regulations and funder requirements.

Liaise with internal stakeholders and external funders, supporting audits and regulatory returns.

Drive continuous process improvement, maintaining strong financial controls and efficient systems.
You will be a qualified (or part-qualified) accountant with strong management accounting experience, ideally gained within higher education, research funding, or a complex organisation. You will have excellent leadership skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships across teams and with external partners.
