Finance Manager - Liverpool - £48-55,000
We are seeking a commercially minded and detail-driven Finance Manager to lead the financial operations for a Liverpool based Law firm with an excellent reputation. This pivotal role will involve overseeing day-to-day finance functions, compliance with SRA Accounts Rules, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling. The ideal candidate will bring experience from a legal or professional services environment and possess the technical and leadership skills to support continued growth and regulatory compliance.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a proactive finance professional who enjoys variety and autonomy. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s finances, from daily transactions to strategic reporting and SRA compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the firm’s financial operations, including day-to-day bookkeeping, month-end close, and year-end accounts preparation
- Ensure compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules and other relevant regulatory requirements
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, cash flow forecasts, and monthly management accounts
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks
- Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities
- Produce Board reports
- Manage client and office accounts, billing processes, and reconciliation of ledgers
- Provide financial insight and analysis to partners and support decision-making
- Ensure timely submission of VAT returns and payroll reporting (in collaboration with external providers)
- Maintain and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls
- Monitor financial KPIs and highlight issues or efficiencies to the Partners
- Support business planning, funding applications, and ad hoc financial projects
- Responsible for all office administration
Requirements:
Essential:
- Full or Part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar finance role
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements
- Excellent Excel skills around financial modelling
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Comfortable working in a small team and taking ownership of end-to-end finance tasks
Desirable:
- Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules
- Proficiency with legal accounting software LEAP
- Experience using Xero accounting software
