Resourcery Group are supporting a Housing Association in Shropshire with the recruitment of a Rent & Service Charge Accountant to join their Financial Accounts & Compliance team as part of a wider, well-established finance function. This opportunity has arisen following an internal promotion as part of a wider restructure — demonstrating the organisation’s genuine commitment to development and long-term career progression. The position will support rent and service charge accounting processes within a social housing environment. Previous housing experience is not essential (but desirable) — the organisation is far more focused on attitude, capability and the willingness to learn.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting rent and service charge accounting processes
- Assisting with reconciliations, journals and balance sheet reviews
- Preparing and analysing financial data and reports
- Supporting budget setting and annual charge reviews
- Working with large data sets using Excel
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
- Supporting compliance and audit requirements
- Liaising with wider operational and finance teams across the business
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who:
- Are nearly AAT qualified or qualified
- Have ideally started ACCA or CIMA studies (early stages)
- Have strong general accounting knowledge, ideally from a management accounts or wider finance background
- Are confident using Excel and manipulating data
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Are proactive, curious and willing to ask questions
- Enjoy learning new skills and working collaboratively within a team
- Want to build a long-term career within finance
