An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Service Charge Officer to join a fantastic finance team within the social housing sector, based in Liverpool on a 3-6 month basis. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of service charge accounting, income management and budget setting who enjoys working collaboratively across operational and finance teams to support effective financial performance and customer outcomes.
As Service Charge Officer, you will play a key role in managing the weekly and monthly income accounting process for service charges, ensuring accurate financial reporting, reconciliations and customer charge calculations. Working as part of the Finance Business Partnering team, you will partner closely with operational stakeholders across Housing, Income, Procurement and Treasury functions to support the effective management and maximisation of service charge income.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing weekly and monthly service charge income accounting processes
- Supporting the annual budget setting process for service charges
- Assisting with the preparation and issuing of service charge notices and annual rent plan updates
- Reviewing reconciliations and ensuring accuracy of service charge income allocation
- Monitoring and reviewing management company accounting transactions
- Working collaboratively with operational contract managers to ensure accurate cost recovery
- Supporting continuous improvement across service charge accounting processes and controls
- Providing financial insight and support to internal stakeholders across the organisation
About You
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience in a service charge finance role within social housing
- Good understanding of service charge accounting and income processes
- Experience supporting budget setting and reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- The ability to build effective relationships with both finance and operational teams
- Good Excel skills
- A proactive and organised approach to workload management
