Salary: Depending on level of experience, £15.83 - £20.36 p/h (£35,000 - £45,000 per annum)
Overtime: Overtime when available is paid at premium rates (x 1.5 and x 2)
Hours: 42.5 hours per week, 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday

A leading specialist engineering company who has a great reputation in the industry for their experience, expertise and high level of workmanship are currently recruiting for an experienced Welder to join their business as a Foreman. The company undertakes manufacturing, repairs, servicing and specialist projects both in the workshop or onsite on a wide range of large and small products and equipment. The work is interesting and varied.
We are looking for an experienced all round welder fabricator who can not only be hands on but also help the workshop manager with undertaking foreman duties and being to help guide, support and mentor the team. We are looking for you to be the link between the management team and the welders ensuring all working is carried out correctly and on time, offering support and guidance to the team whilst also undertaking welding duties. This role would suit applicants who are a skilled Welder who has team leader, supervisory or management experience.
Main Duties
- Assist in organising and overseeing the day to day running of the workshop
- Communicating with the Manager and Service Department and providing regular updates of ongoing workshop activities
- Ensuring all materials and jobs are ready for the welders.
- Ensure that all jobs are being undertaken in a professional and correct manner.
- Carrying out quality control checks
- Be the first point of escalation for any queries from the team
- Prevent and minimize the careless use of equipment and materials
- Make sure all the welding tools and equipment are in good working order
- To be aware of, adhere to and promote all the housekeeping, tidying and Health and Safety regulations and policies applicable to your role and workshop environment
- Complete any other tasks as and when required
Skills and Previous Experience
- Previous welding / fabricating experience
- Any relevant formal qualifications or training would be advantageous but not essential as time served is acceptable
- Be able to weld to high standard in MIG, MMA and TIG
- A positive and enthusiastic mindset with a real ‘can do’ attitude and strong team work ethic
- Level headed and calm regardless of the situation, demonstrating empathy, understanding and a professional persona, setting a good example to others at all times
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong performance as a welder and able to act as a role model to your team to keep standards high
- Always approachable and helpful
- Methodical and organised
- Ability to problem solve and remain resilient and determined
- Flexible approach to work
