A specialist engineering company are currently recruiting for a Technical Buyer. This is a newly created role for the business due to the increased demand for their products and service.
This is a busy role where you will be working in a small team to purchase parts and materials for production, source new suppliers, build working relationships with suppliers and negotiate the best terms for the business.
Responsibilities:
- Source new supplier for materials and components for production
- Negotiate prices, lead times, and supplier terms
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and review performance
- Support NPI and engineering changes
- Manage supplier risks around capacity, quality, and supply
- Forecast material demand and price trends
- Manage inventory levels including managing slow‑moving / obsolete stock
The successful applicant will:
- Have previous buying / purchasing / procurement experience
- Experience in a manufacturing / engineering industry
- Ability to understand, interpret and purchase from engineering drawings
- Demonstrate experience of sourcing new suppliers
