We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join a busy procurement and supply chain team in Poole.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional to take responsibility for supplier management, purchasing activities, material availability and supply chain performance within a manufacturing environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring materials and services are available on time to support production, while working closely with suppliers and internal departments to identify risks, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities as a Buyer;
- Raise purchase orders accurately and within required timescales.
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring targets for quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness are achieved.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within the ERP/MRP system.
- Manage open purchase order dates and ensure information is kept up to date.
- Conduct requests for quotation, supplier evaluations and sourcing activities.
- Support negotiations and contract implementation.
- Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Manage key supply chain parameters including lead times, minimum order quantities, delivery frequencies and schedules.
- Identify potential risks to production schedules and work cross-functionally to implement timely solutions.
- Attend daily production meetings and collaborate with internal teams to resolve supply chain issues.
- Identify cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities and work with stakeholders to deliver improvements.
- Support continuous improvement and supplier development initiatives.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have
- A minimum of 4 years' experience in Procurement
- Strong supplier and stakeholder relationship management skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- A practical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
- A proactive, action-oriented approach with the confidence to challenge existing processes.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, with experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
- Resilience and the ability to remain effective when dealing with challenging situations.
