Job Location: Ferndown Industrial Estate, Dorset

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £8.00 - £12.71 per hour (age related pay)

Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday – Friday 7.30am to 4.45pm with a half day finish on a Friday.

Benefits: 25 days holidays plus bank holidays, pension, staff benefit scheme, excellent working environment and training.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Machinist to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in engineering and manufacturing, gaining hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification.

As an apprentice, you will learn to operate precision machinery, read technical drawings, and produce high-quality components in a supportive workshop environment. The company will require you to attend college to gain your qualifications. Whilst at college you will be paid for this learning. The aim is to get you trained up to be a fully skilled machinist. This is an excellent opportunity to work within engineering, being hands-on, learning valuable skills and starting your career. We will look at applicants that have finished school or that have a couple of years engineering experience who want a company to train and develop them formally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn to operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment
  • Working with cut-off saws and deburring tools
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Carry out basic measurements and quality checks
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Work alongside experienced machinists and engineers
