Role Overview:
We’re looking for a technically strong Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of subsystems within our advanced maritime platforms. You’ll take ownership of key technical workstreams, ensuring robust architecture, clear interfaces, and integration readiness within defined scope. Reporting to the Lead Systems Engineer, you’ll collaborate across disciplines to deliver reliable, well‑engineered solutions that meet system‑level requirements. This role is ideal for an experienced systems engineer who thrives on deep technical engagement, enjoys coordinating across functions, and takes pride in delivering clarity and quality within complex, multi‑domain environments.
Responsibilities will include:
- Own subsystem or domain‑level architecture, requirements, and integration planning.
- Deliver clear, traceable definitions of interfaces, behaviours, and verification plans.
- Act as the technical lead for your workstream, coordinating across mechanical, electrical, software, and control teams.
- Drive subsystem integration readiness by managing dependencies and resolving technical blockers.
- Support system‑level verification through detailed test planning and analysis.
- Identify and manage technical risks within your domain, escalating cross‑cutting issues to the Lead Systems Engineer.
- Engage regularly with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery focus.
- Contribute to technical reviews and assurance activities within your engineering domain.
- Support the development of junior engineers through knowledge sharing and peer review.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4–7 years’ experience in systems engineering within complex, regulated, or safety‑critical environments.
- Strong understanding of systems architecture, requirements management, and integration planning.
- Proven experience leading technical delivery within a defined scope or subsystem.
- Skilled in interface definition, cross‑discipline coordination, and design assurance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in multi‑disciplinary teams.
Desirable:
- Experience with class approval processes (e.g. Lloyd’s, DNV) or other compliance regimes.
- Proficiency with MBSE tools and practices (e.g. SysML, Cameo).
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and modern digital collaboration tools.
- Exposure to staged integration, TRL‑based delivery, or platform qualification efforts.
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles. Please note that all offers of employment are conditional and subject to satisfactory DBS, driving licence and reference checks. A criminal record will not automatically disqualify candidates from employment. We will consider criminal record information alongside the wider range of evidence gathered at the application, interview, and pre‑employment checking stages.
