Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective operation of SubSea Craft platforms during trials, demonstrations, operational evaluations, customer activities, and deployed operations.
  • Conduct mission preparation, launch, recovery, piloting, mission execution, and post‑mission activities across SubSea Craft's aerial and maritime systems.
  • Operate advanced autonomous and remotely operated systems in support of real‑world customer, operational, and test objectives.
  • Act as a platform operator during customer demonstrations, familiarisation activities, trials, and operational deployments.
  • Execute missions in accordance with approved operating procedures, risk controls, and safety requirements.
  • Support the development, validation, and continuous improvement of operational procedures, checklists, emergency procedures, and best practice.
  • Deploy globally in support of customer activities, demonstrations, trials, operational evaluations, and capability development events.
  • Serve as a deployable member of the Mission Success team, supporting customers wherever SubSea Craft platforms are operated.
  • Support the mobilisation, transportation, setup, operation, and recovery of platforms, support equipment, and deployment assets across multiple operating locations.
  • Establish and operate temporary launch sites, workshops, operating locations, and support facilities in expeditionary and austere environments.
  • Work alongside military, government, and industry stakeholders to deliver successful operational outcomes.
  • Be prepared to undertake frequent international travel and extended deployments as a fundamental requirement of the role.
  • Maintain assigned platforms, support equipment, and deployment assets in a safe, serviceable, and mission‑ready condition.
  • Conduct routine inspections, servicing, preventative maintenance, and basic fault diagnosis activities.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and provide accurate operational feedback to Senior Field Technicians, engineering teams, and programme stakeholders.
  • Manage batteries, payloads, spares, tools, and support equipment to ensure continued operational readiness.
  • Maintain maintenance records, serviceability reporting, and equipment accountability.
  • Support the preparation and configuration of platforms for deployment, demonstration, and customer activities.
  • Build customer confidence through safe operation, professional conduct, and reliable delivery.
  • Represent SubSea Craft professionally during customer‑facing activities, demonstrations, and international deployments.
  • Support the successful delivery of operational objectives through disciplined preparation, platform expertise, and professional field support.
  • Capture operational observations, user feedback, and lessons identified during activities and deployments.
  • Contribute to post‑mission reporting, debriefs, and lessons learned processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, operational effectiveness, and deployment efficiency.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience operating unmanned systems, remotely operated platforms, drones, model aircraft, autonomous systems, marine systems, or comparable technical equipment.
  • Demonstrable passion for UAVs, USVs, robotics, FPV systems, autonomous technologies, maritime systems, or related operational disciplines.
  • Strong practical and mechanical aptitude combined with the ability to solve problems in dynamic field environments.
  • Comfortable operating technical systems outdoors, at sea, and in expeditionary environments.
  • Ability to work independently whilst maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Hold an active UK Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance, or be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain SC clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide, often at short notice and for extended periods.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience operating multirotor, fixed‑wing, FPV, or autonomous aerial systems.
  • Experience operating autonomous or remotely operated maritime systems.
  • UK CAA UAS qualifications (A2 CofC, GVC, RPC-Lv1 or equivalent).
  • Commercially endorsed powerboat or maritime qualifications.
  • Military, maritime, offshore, emergency services, engineering, or defence industry experience.
  • Experience supporting trials, demonstrations, operational test and evaluation, or customer‑facing activities.
  • Experience working with autonomous, robotic, or remotely operated systems.
