Role Overview:

We are looking for a Control Systems Integration Engineer to help bring our autonomous marine platforms to life through seamless integration of hardware and software. In this hands-on role, you will configure and test sensors, actuators, and networks, design and tune control systems, and ensure everything works together flawlessly, from the bench to sea trials. If you are excited by complex systems, real-world testing, and making autonomy work in the harshest environments, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Hardware configuration and testing, including sensors, actuators and networking systems.
  • Design and development of closed loop control of analog and digital actuation systems, with PLC or similar embedded systems.
  • Design and configuration of data networks.
  • Production of comprehensive interface documentation for control systems.
  • Internal and external software integration, testing and benchmark.
  • Conducting sea trials, including testing and validation of software, networking, system integration.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Degree level qualification in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science (or other STEM subject) or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years hardware integration and testing experience.
  • An understanding of basic closed loop control.

Desirable:

  • PLC programming with Codesys.
  • An understanding of basic electronics.
  • Experience with CAN bus.
  • Experience with industry standard communication protocols, such as CANOpen, NMEA2000, NMEA0183.
  • Familiarity with the Linux command line.
  • Embedded systems programming in C/C++.
  • Experience with mobile robotics projects.
  • Experience with networking.
  • Experience using containers (such as Docker).

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.
