About The Role
Resonate Testing are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Test Engineer to join our growing laboratory team. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on planning, executing, and reporting physical tests programmes in a controlled laboratory environment. You will work directly with test equipment, support customer test programmes, and ensure testing is complete accurately, safely, and to relevant standards. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys practical work, problem solving, and working with real hardware, rather than purely desk-based or software-only testing.
Responsibilities
- Set up, conduct, and monitor environmental and mechanical tests (e.g. vibration, shock, thermal etc.)
- Prepare test samples and fixtures in line with test plans and standards.
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Help maintain test equipment and ensure safe working practices in the laboratory.
- Contribute to engineering projects, process improvements, and system updates.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and customers during test activities.
- Prepare documentation, test records, and technical reports under supervision.
- Support general laboratory operations and housekeeping tasks.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, quality systems, and health and safety requirements.
- Assist with equipment checks, calibration coordination, and lab housekeeping.
All relevant training will be provided.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable experience working in a hands-on engineering or technical environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and technical problem-solving.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience planning, coordinating or supporting technical projects or engineering activities.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prepare clear technical documentation or reports.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians and customers.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on engineering or laboratory environment.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with testing in laboratory environments.
- Experience supporting test programmes, test set ups, instrumentation, or data acquisition systems.
- Knowledge of engineering test standards.
- Experience in industries such as aerospace, space, defence, electronics, automotive, or advanced engineering sectors.
- Experience preparing formal test reports or technical test documentation.
