Our IHE (In-House Engineering) Team is dedicated to advancing clinical research by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of essential trial equipment. We support patient safety and data integrity through expert calibration, service, and repair of laboratory and refrigeration products & services used in clinical trials.
In this equipment & ancillaries’ role by MESM, you will report to our GSM (Global Service Manager) and will work closely with fellow associates to support our valued customers & their global clinical studies. This role is based at our site 007 – UK – Chorley working within the IHE (In-House Engineering) workshop. The post holder will perform a range of low risk, routine, technical & scientific procedures. This element of work will be working hands-on to support a wide range of clinical specialties, whilst assisting with our business product lifecycle management.
How will you make an impact & Requirement
You will be paired up with an experienced engineer to maintain, calibrate and conduct routine services to ensure that the diverse range of equipment we supply is functioning correctly and is performing to specification. As part of your studies, you will be required to undertake 1-day study per week.
Important Information
Minimum 12–14 months on-programme. This apprenticeship includes on‑programme learning, the Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Science, and an End Point Assessment consisting of practical observation and professional discussion. Apprenticeships are funded by the apprenticeship levy and your employer meaning the apprentice has no costs to pay. A much more cost-effective way of earning qualifications when compared to university tuition fees. Regular, on-programme assessment in the workplace of the apprentice’s development performance and competency which will include direct observation of practice, discussions and written work to ensure full and sufficient evidence towards apprentice readiness to undertake the End Point Assessment.
Required:
- Eligibility to undertake a UK apprenticeship and commitment to the full programme.
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English Grade C/4 or above or equivalent, Maths and Science.
- Any prior exposure to healthcare, engineering, laboratories or technical services.
