Would you like a role that makes a real world impact? The growth of online harms in the world of social media has been exponential and can present itself at all levels of society. Users of social media are continually being bombarded with potentially harmful, illegal, hateful, violent, inauthentic and misattributed content. Fighting these risks on social media requires dynamism and fluidity to face each problem individually and appropriately, whilst also applying a consistent lens of investigative curiosity. Our intelligence makes a huge difference; every year we protect millions of the most vulnerable from the most egregious forms of exploitation.
Within the Platforms Team at Resolver, you will be identifying online threats across a number of risk areas. We are excited to be growing our team and are hiring a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for regulations and online risks which will include threat content around suicide and self‑harm and other related areas. This role is ideal for anyone wanting to use their previous professional experiences within research, intelligence, and analysis to make the internet a safer place for everyone.
About the role: The core focus in this role is to lead a component of subject matter expertise within the Platforms Team and its sub teams. Online harms can be difficult to research and analyse; which means a successful subject matter expert must be experienced in researching online harms, and understand the problem set in order to draw assessments that will support actionable outputs. A successful SME must be passionate, determined, focused, and open‑minded when approaching a task, prioritising key tenets of intelligence analysis and professionalism.
In this role, you will be working hands‑on to research and write intelligence deliverables, and also working directly with our clients to ensure an excellent service. This means you will be confident in communicating both in written form as well as verbally and are able to identify and present the key risks, threats, trends, and issues in a personable yet concise manner. Whilst being well‑versed in your subject area, you must be able to stay up to date with industry trends, whilst also supporting organic research to support a proactive approach to trust and safety issues.
With a background in intelligence or trust and safety, you will be a key leader in the business; supporting, mentoring, and growing the breadth of expertise in the team. You will also be expected to support with improving the overall output of the wider intelligence team. This means working closely with peers in a collaborative environment, conducting training, and providing feedback on one another's work in a constructive manner.
Key competencies such as OSINT skills, or intelligence training qualifications are particularly desirable for a person applying for these positions.
Essential Experience:
- Fluent proficiency in English language
- Fully conversant with regulation and how that applies to online risks
- Experience in managing projects end-to-end; creativity and flexibility in addressing specific case or project needs and changes of circumstance
- Previous experience in relevant risk area, through research, safeguarding, or intelligence related fields
- Existing knowledge of social media platforms and how they work
- Ability to conduct research across different social media platforms
- Can prioritise workloads and manage deadlines across multiple deliverables
Benefits: Our rewards are as unique as our culture and we want to attract the best candidates and retain them. Not only will we ensure your development is key, but you will be joining a fantastic team of like-minded people who work together as one team to achieve a shared vision. We offer an excellent salary and benefits package which includes:
- Market competitive pay based on your skills and experience
