Salary: £35,000 per year

Working Hours: Monday–Thursday: 9:00am–5:00pm; Friday: 9:00am–4:00pm; Typically 6–8 hours per day, contracted and paid for 40 hours per week; Occasional weekend work may be required and will be paid at time and a half.

About the Role

Resolve Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for an ADR Clinical Waste Operative to join our client’s team in Poole. This is an important role involving the safe collection, transportation and disposal of hazardous clinical waste (EWC 18 01 03) from designated residential and commercial locations. The successful candidate will drive either a van or HGV Class 2 vehicle, depending on their licence and operational requirements. We are looking for a reliable, safety-conscious and professional driver who takes pride in their work and is comfortable dealing with customers and handling clinical waste. HGV Class 2 (Category C) with ADR Class 6 is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving & Vehicle Operation: Safely operate company vehicles, including vans and HGV Class 2 vehicles, to designated collection and disposal locations.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks.
  • Ensure the vehicle remains roadworthy, clean and sanitary.
  • Follow designated routes and collection schedules efficiently.
  • Comply with all relevant road traffic legislation.
  • Drive in accordance with ADR and company safety procedures.
  • Clinical Waste Collection: Collect and replace, where required, clinical waste containers including:
    • Orange clinical waste bags
    • Yellow-lidded sharps containers
    • Purple-lidded sharps containers
    • Blue-lidded pharmaceutical containers
    • Red-lidded anatomical containers
    • Doop kits
  • All waste must be handled in accordance with company procedures and relevant health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Complete Hazardous Waste Transfer Notes accurately at each collection.
  • Provide the customer with the appropriate copy of the Waste Transfer Note.
  • Attend the designated disposal facility.
  • Complete the relevant consignment documentation for final disposal.
  • Return all remaining paperwork to the office for processing.
  • Report any incidents, discrepancies or issues promptly to the Transport Manager or office.
  • Customer Service: Represent the company professionally when visiting customer sites.
  • Communicate courteously with customers and site staff.
  • Ensure collections are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Report vehicle defects, damage or maintenance requirements immediately.
  • Complete basic vehicle checks and maintenance where required.
  • Maintain a clean and professional vehicle at all times.

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • ADR qualification.
  • Previous professional driving experience.
  • Good understanding of safe working practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Physically fit and able to lift and move waste containers.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
  • Ability to follow waste-handling procedures and complete paperwork accurately.

Highly Desirable:

  • HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • ADR Class 6 qualification.
  • Previous experience in clinical, hazardous or waste collection.
  • Experience completing Waste Transfer Notes or consignment documentation.
  • Previous experience working within a regulated environment.
