Transport Section Manager

Transport Planner (Lutterworth) ~ Permanent ~ 4 on 4 off ~ Immediate Start. Location: Lutterworth, Leicestershire, Pay rate: £30,000 – £35,000 per year Depending on experience Transport Section Leader Job role: • Resource Management: Effectively manage and plan driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times and client SLAs. • Service Level Maintenance: Ensure that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments. • Regulatory Compliance: Optimise resources and adhere to Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers’ hours legislation. • Legal Compliance: Ensure legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOTs, etc. • Incident Investigation: Investigate all incidents of fleet damage, Road Traffic Incidents (RTIs), and High Potential Near Misses (HPNMs), escalating to line managers for further support. • Disciplinary Actions: Carry out disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, and substance misuse procedures. • Risk Assessments: Ensure any risk assessments at the depot are organised and carried out accordingly. • Driver Briefings: Conduct pre-brief and debrief sessions with all drivers, ensuring company standards are maintained and adhered to. Transport Section Leader Shift pattern: • 4 ON 4 OFF • 06:00 – 18:00 What we are looking for in a Transport Section Leader: • Knowledge & Experience: Significant knowledge and experience of tachograph/driving rules and regulations. • Qualifications: CPC National is desirable but not essential. • Management Experience: Previous management or supervisory experience. • Skills: Strong planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy, and excellent negotiating skills with the ability to influence and steer. • Efficiency Under Pressure: Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure. • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
