Residual is a carbon removal development platform working with large industrial partners to transform biogenic waste and underutilized land into high-quality carbon credit projects. We specialize in structuring, documenting, and financing biochar and nature-based removal projects that meet the highest standards of integrity. Our team combines expertise from carbon markets, insurance, project development, and scientific assessment.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Science Intern to support our work reviewing project developer documentation and extracting key technical, environmental, and financial information. You will be responsible for inputting this information into Residual’s proprietary templates that form the basis of risk assessments, life-cycle assessments, and feasibility studies. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong scientific reasoning and sound judgment in interpreting technical project documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Review environmental, engineering, and project feasibility documents shared by developers.
- Extract and summarize critical details into structured templates across topics such as carbon accounting, feedstock data, permanence, and co-benefits.
- Exercise good judgment in identifying which project details are relevant or require follow-up.
- Collaborate with our analytical team to ensure accuracy and completeness of inputs.
- Help improve and refine the internal templates based on user feedback.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Forestry, or a related field .
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret technical documentation.
- Familiarity with carbon removal pathways (biochar, ARR) is a plus.
- Interest in carbon markets and climate solutions.
- Proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced early-stage environment.
