Osterna, part of RMG and Places for People Group, is looking for an experienced Residential Fire Risk Assessor to join a proactive and highly successful team of Health & Safety Professionals. With a positive work / life balance, you will be homebased when not undertaking site visits. You will typically complete up to 10 site visits a week (Monday to Friday). Although we are seeking an assessor based in the South of England, national travel will be required.

With the emphasis on quality over quantity, Osterna residential Fire Risk Assessors really do benefit from having a work life balance rarely seen in this sector. You will have the flexibility to choose which days you’re out and about and which days you choose to work from home, when you will complete your report writing. Risk assessment reports will, in most cases, be confined to the common internal and external areas for residential developments.

What does the role involve? Specialising in the residential housing sector, Osterna's Residential Fire Risk Assessors carry out inspections to a range of property types including traditional residential blocks, sheltered housing, HMO and high-rise (over 18 metres +) housing and write up reports with your findings. Completed risk assessments are used by the Property Managers and Directors of the management companies to initiate repairs or any other procedures required, to ensure the residential common areas remain a safe environment.

What knowledge, skills and experience are we looking for from our Fire Risk Assessor?

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential
  • Experience undertaking fire risk assessment work within the residential property sector on High Rise Buildings
  • It’s essential you have a NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Level 3 NEBOSH National General Certificate
  • Experience of undertaking suitable and sufficient Health and Safety and Type’s 1 and Type 3 Fire Risk Assessments (HSFRA), and Compartmentation Surveys.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail within your reports is essential, along with a comprehensive knowledge of the current Health and Safety legislation and its application to property management.
  • Knowledge of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and supporting local government guidance and its application to our sector.
  • LaCORS experience would be great, although not essential and training will be provided.
