Osterna, part of RMG and Places for People Group, is looking for an experienced Residential Fire Risk Assessor to join a proactive and highly successful team of Health & Safety Professionals covering a patch across North London and surrounding areas. With a positive work/life balance, you will be home‑based when not undertaking site visits, typically completing up to 10 site visits a week (Monday to Friday). An assessor based in the North London area is required, with national travel possibly required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialise in the residential housing sector and carry out inspections of a range of property types, including traditional residential blocks, sheltered housing, HMO and high‑rise buildings over 18 metres.
  • Write up fire risk assessment reports, covering the common internal and external areas for residential developments.
  • Provide reports to Property Managers and Directors of management companies to initiate repairs or other procedures required to maintain safe environments.
  • Complete up to 10 site visits a week, primarily from home, with site visits as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience undertaking fire risk assessment work within the residential property sector on high‑rise buildings.
  • Essential: NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Level 3 NEBOSH National General Certificate.
  • Preferably registered with the NFRA at IFSM or willing to work towards registration.
  • Experience of suitable and sufficient Health and Safety and Type 1 and Type 3 Fire Risk Assessments (HSFRA), and Compartmentation Surveys.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in reports, with comprehensive knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application to property management.
  • Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and supporting local government guidance.
  • LaCORS experience would be great, although not essential and training will be provided.
