General Manager (Build To Rent) in London

We're recruiting for a talented General Manager to take the lead at a Build to Rent development in London. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a unique residential asset, lead a dedicated team and play a key role in shaping the success of a growing residential operator.

This is a varied, high-responsibility position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys taking ownership and can balance the bigger commercial picture with the finer details of day-to-day operations.

The Role

As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the smooth running of the development, leading the on-site team and ensuring residents receive an exceptional living experience.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Team Leadership: Lead, motivate and develop a team, including managers, creating a positive culture focused on accountability, wellbeing and performance.
• Resident Experience: Take ownership of the resident journey, from move-ins and move-outs to tenancy renewals, resident engagement and complaint resolution.
• Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day management of the entire estate
• Health & Safety: Work closely with the Maintenance Manager to maintain high standards of health, safety, fire safety and compliance across the development.
• Commercial Performance: Support leasing activity, maximise occupancy and revenue
• Financial Management: Oversee resident and supplier payments, debt management, reporting and the effective management of operational budgets and expenditure.
• Leasing & Mobilisation: Work collaboratively with the Leasing Manager and wider teams to coordinate apartment readiness, viewings, move-ins and move-outs.
• Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with investors, senior management, suppliers

You’ll need to be comfortable getting involved in all aspects of the operation, leading from the front and taking a proactive approach to resolving challenges.

What We're Looking For

We’re keen to speak with individuals who can demonstrate:

• Proven experience in a General Manager, Property Manager or senior operational management position.
• Experience within Build to Rent (BTR), residential property management, PBSA, co-living, hospitality or a comparable customer-focused environment .
• Strong people management skills, with the ability to lead, develop and motivate a team.
• A genuine passion for customer service and creating an outstanding resident experience.
• Commercial awareness, with an understanding of occupancy, revenue generation, financial reporting and debt management.
• A solid understanding of property operations, compliance, health and safety and building management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
