An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Door Inspector to join a growing Build-to-Rent (BTR) residential portfolio, overseeing fire door inspections and compliance across multiple developments. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining fire safety standards across a substantial residential portfolio.

The role will focus on inspecting fire doors, identifying defects and non-compliance, and ensuring accurate records are maintained in line with relevant fire safety requirements.

Based in London, the position will also involve occasional travel to developments in Birmingham and Leeds, with accommodation paid for when overnight stays are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out annual fire door inspections across residential developments, producing detailed condition reports and identifying compliance issues or safety concerns.
  • Complete quarterly inspections of high-traffic fire doors.
  • Inspect fire doors, frames, seals, hinges, closers, locks and associated hardware to assess their condition and compliance.
  • Identify defects, deficiencies and non-compliant installations, documenting findings and recommending appropriate remedial action.
  • Ensure inspections are completed in line with relevant fire safety legislation, industry guidance and applicable standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection records, reports and compliance documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with site and property management teams to communicate findings and support the resolution of identified compliance issues.
  • Provide guidance to on-site teams on fire door inspection requirements and compliance standards.
  • Travel occasionally to developments in Birmingham and Leeds as required.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Fire Door Inspector, Fire Door Surveyor or in a similar fire safety compliance role.
  • Strong knowledge of fire door components, installation requirements and relevant compliance standards.
  • Experience carrying out fire door inspections and producing detailed condition reports.
  • A recognised fire door inspection qualification, such as FDIS accreditation or an equivalent qualification.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Joinery for Fire door installers or other relevant trade, or equivalent level of competence obtained from on-the-job experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and potential compliance risks.
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills, with the ability to maintain accurate compliance records.
  • A proactive and professional approach, with the confidence to communicate inspection findings to site teams.

If you're an experienced Fire Door Inspector with a strong understanding of fire safety compliance and a commitment to maintaining high standards, we'd love to hear from you!
