We are looking for a Full-time wine bar Assistant Manager at the stunning Picturedrome site in Macclesfield. Working 40 hours per week, varied shifts (with flexibility) Monday-Sunday between 10am-11pm. £25,950, plus Tronc, plus performance related bonus.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager, this role is varied, challenging and extremely rewarding for the right candidate, supporting the GM to run a small team, customer tasting events and getting involved in the strategic plan for growth. We are looking for someone with a huge passion and enthusiasm for wine and spirits and someone to live by our values – Welcoming, Enterprising, Passionate, Fun Loving and Genuine.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work as a positive team player, demonstrating mutual respect and integrity for others whilst maintaining open and effective communication at all levels within the business.
  • Maintain high personal and professional standards with the ability to multitask, improvise and adapt to all situations whilst keeping the customer's needs first.
  • Sales
  • To work with the Manager to maximise sales, striving to achieve or exceed targets.
  • To work with the Manager to identify the most appropriate ways of driving sales, recognising markers for success and reporting back to the management team.
  • Support the Manager with the financial reporting, completing the EOW reports in the absence of the Manager.
  • Support the Manager in organising, promoting and running regular tasting events, producing a P&L sheet for each event to ensure profit margins are being met.
  • Alongside the Manager drive regular presence on social media, updating Instagram company pages with news, products or events that are coming up.
  • Support with the cashing up and daily recording of sales.
  • Product Knowledge
    • Maintain awareness and knowledge of changes and developments in the drinks industry, ensuring your team members are trained and informed.
    • Organise and run team events to keep wine and retail knowledge current and up to date.
    • Attend training sessions provided by suppliers/colleagues, wherever possible.
    • Encourage team members to share their knowledge and experiences.
  • Customer Service
    • Deliver exceptional levels of customer service to customers at all times and lead by example to your team.
    • Understand and implement Reserves policy on customer enquiries, valuing every customer and providing respectful, fun and interesting information on wines.
    • To achieve and help support exceptional mystery shopper reports, along with passing on feedback to the team.
  • Team Motivation/Leadership
    • Lead by example, always be on time and ready to start work when your shift starts.
    • Assist the Manager in producing rotas in a timely manner (4 weeks published at all times), ensuring it is sensible with appropriate staffing levels, strive to provide a rota that allows all to have a good work-life balance.
    • Lead and run efficient and correctly staffed shifts.
    • Assist the Manager in leading staff meetings to encourage ongoing communication and openness within your team.
    • Assist the Manager in creating a harmonious, happy working environment for all team members.
    • Support the Manager in delegating roles and responsibilities where suitable to other members of the team.
    • Assist the Manager in regular 1-2-1s with the team to help encourage the development of the team.
    • Assisting the manager to monitor and support staff performance, provide feedback and training and if required step in to conduct probationary reviews in the absence of the manager.
    • Assist the Manager in recruitment, following the recruitment procedure outlined by the HR Manager.
  • Shop/Stock Management
    • Assist the Manager in creating structured open and close down procedures, ensuring that all staff open and close on time and to a high standard.
    • Maintain a clean and organised shop space, making it easy for customers to move around and see all available products.
    • Responsible for encouraging the team to keep the cellar or stock rooms clean and well ordered so products are easily found.
    • Responsible for ensuring all the team are aware of health and safety policies and that they undertake safe working practices at all times.
    • Maintain a fully stocked disposables supply, ensuring that you order things in good time, e.g., PDQ rolls, glasses, bottle wrap, plastic bags etc.
    • Maintain stock levels of food, snacks and consumables within a timely manner.
    • Maintain food hygiene levels and making sure the team are maintaining correct food hygiene and allergen standards.
    • Ensure all wines are priced and displayed accurately.
    • Create and design new displays/blackboards on a regular basis and in line with key monthly focuses and events, e.g., Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day.
    • Ordering stock, as per par levels to help maintain correct stock levels.
    • Perform an accurate monthly stock count.
    • Ensure that shelves are fully stocked as much as possible at all times.
    • Assist with unloading and organising deliveries.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • Hospitality experience essential.
    • Customer-facing experience.
    • Wine and spirits knowledge (WSET 2 preferable).
    • Confidence in running customer-tasting experiences would be beneficial.
    • Social media knowledge.
