The Position
Reporting to the Service Engineering Manager, the primary responsibility of this role is to provide expert technical support to our Offshore O&M department, which operates and maintains renewable energy assets including offshore meteorological masts, wind turbines, offshore transmission assets, foundations, and subsea cables. The Offshore Engineer will enhance operational delivery through remote and on-site technical support, training, and documentation.
Key Accountabilities
- Be the key point of contact for Offshore O&M in providing technical support.
- Provide remote technical support via phone, email, or the ‘Support App’ to Offshore O&M and other departments.
- Conduct on-site interventions as necessary.
- Develop operational documentation such as Work Instructions and Method Statements.
- Review manufacturer documentation and technical standards to update internal procedures.
- Provide technical briefings to the Operational Team on documentation updates.
- Support documentation management and control.
- Develop and deliver training plans and materials.
- Assist in HSQE incident investigations and root cause analyses, supporting improved procedures.
- Support quality control processes.
- Foster collaboration within the Service Engineering department across regions.
- Participate in virtual or face-to-face meetings with clients on technical issues.
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Understanding of BOP systems applicable to offshore wind farms.
- Knowledge of LV, HV, and mechanical fault-finding and analysis.
- Familiarity with Siemens 3.6X turbine platform is desirable; training can be provided.
Skills
- Strong safety awareness and attitude.
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English.
- Proficient IT skills for reporting and documentation.
- Coaching mentality, capable of training others.
Experience
- Experience working offshore on transmission systems.
- Background in mechanical, electrical, power electronics, or hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Experience in developing operational documentation.
- Experience with offshore wind turbines, especially Siemens 3.6X, is desirable.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- GWO Training (full training provided if needed).
- Full UK driving license.
