The Position

The Team Leader holds the same duties as a Technician with additional responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Technician who has good leadership capabilities, project management skills and dedication to delivering a world class O&M service. The Team Leader will line-manage up to 2–10 Technicians in a region and be accountable to the Operations Manager for the performance of the team and the region. This role will be based in Campbeltown.

Accountabilities (Responsibilities)

  • Line management of a team of Technicians, ensuring adherence to HSQE requirements at all time
  • Staff recruitment, training, and competency planning
  • Day to day planning alongside the co-ordinator for the team of Technicians
  • Working with the Coordinator for responding to call-outs from the monitoring team
  • Attendance at weekly coordination calls and relaying information back to the team
  • Always demonstrate leadership for health and safety and help improve safety standards across the team
  • Set high standard for quality and compliance of maintenance tasks, and lead by example in this area
  • Review and approve work orders in the company CMMS
  • Support the allocation of downtime events so that the correct downtime cause and penalising status can be recorded, and ensuring good commercial awareness when doing so during the monthly call
  • Discuss performance on a weekly basis with the Wind O&M Manager and demonstrate accountability for the performance of their region
  • Ensure call-out rota has full coverage
  • Support and carry out quality checks to ensure the high standard of all sites in the region and ensuring compliance with the O&M contract when requested
  • Ensure records are maintained and the CMMS is used to its fullest extent
  • Support recruitment and new staff onboarding activities
  • Provide support to fill resource gaps within the region
  • Maintain and develop relevant specialist skills
  • Support budgeting and commercial planning activities
  • Other duties commensurate with the role
  • Support HSQE incident investigations where required
  • Support new site adoption/onboarding
  • Support daily monitoring and fault escalation

Knowledge

  • Turbine O&M background in either Vestas, Siemens, Gamesa or Senvion technologies
  • Team leadership experience
  • Co-ordination of subcontractors
  • H&S awareness (RA, CoSSH, MS)
  • WTSR

  • Mechanical or Electrical fault finding
  • Current Authorised Technician or held AT status
  • Experience in leading teams
  • Use of hydraulic tooling

  • Reporting Wind turbine maintenance
  • Large component exchange
  • Managing heavy lifting
  • Working at height

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (minimum Level 3 NVQ)
