Control Engineer (EA3) in England

The position involves managing the systems and day-to-day operations of the 1.4GW East Anglia 3 (EA3) Wind farm from the temporary control room based in Lowestoft. Full-time employee and contracting positions will be available for a planned start date from April 2025 to June 2025.

• Continuously assess proper operation of the wind farm power controller and report detected malfunctions.
• Make manual interventions to keep the wind farm assets in compliance with the grid code in the event of wind farm power controller failure.
• Place and remove individual turbines from the wind farm power controller system as required for works onsite.
• Respond to substation (ONCS and OFCS) alarms including relay tripping of circuit breakers.
• Prepare switching programs for the first energisation of different assets in the Project.
• Ensure that first energisation is carried out in accordance with country legislation.
• Perform planned, reactive and emergency switching on substation assets by following approved switching programs and Switching Schedules.
• Continuous remote monitoring of IAC Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system and any ancillary systems (ONCS, OFCS).
• Confirm full availability of SCADA communication and checks and monitoring of any Insulating Gas Density Dependant (IGDD) isolations at the start of morning shift.
• Prepare daily availability report in accordance with Employer provided WTG Availability Report template and distribute among the relevant Employer stakeholders.
• Attend the daily Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) meeting for planning next day’s work activities.
• Confirm all night shift documentation and control consent have been agreed.
• Send out the team-work planning to the SAPs/APs updated mail group.
• Ensure checklist is complete for the day and that all work requests and emails are read, filed and actioned.
• Confirm consent for turbine pauses overnight at start of night shift.
• Update daily availability report and distribute among the relevant Employer stakeholders.
• Manage any outage requests and include planned outages into the planning as relevant.
• Create daily alarms reports and distribute them to the Project stakeholders when instructed by the Employer.
• Coordinate any necessary actions on site with the Project Commissioning Team and/or the relevant Employer Nominated Contractors.

• Knowledge and understanding of HV and wind farm systems & assets.
• Knowledge and understanding of HV safety rules and application.
• Knowledge of switching policies and procedures on wind farms.

• Ability to use and understand SCADA systems.
• Ability to interpret data and produce reports.
• Communication & liaison with 3rd parties.

• Previously authorised as Control Engineer.
• Previously carried out SAP role (desirable).
• Previously worked on an offshore project.
• Previously produced and worked to switching schedules.

• Full UK driving licence.
• Previously held SAP authorisation under high voltage electrical safety rules at 400kV (desirable).
• NEBOSH/IOSH Managing Safely or CITB SMSTS or equivalent.
