The position
This role provides practical HSQE support to RES’ UK & Ireland Services business, primarily supporting Asset Management and Operations & Maintenance activities across operational renewable energy assets.
The role involves working closely with site teams, contractors and operational stakeholders to help maintain safe, compliant and effective ways of working.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with operational teams, visiting sites, solving practical problems and helping embed a positive HSQE culture.
- Accountabilities
- Conduct site inspections, audits and assurance activities across operational sites and contractor activities.
- Review and support the development of RAMS, risk assessments, point of work risk assessments, lifting plans, permit arrangements and operational procedures.
- Provide HSQE input into contractor management, competence assessment and supplier pre-qualification.
- Support incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis and closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyse trends from incidents, audits, inspections and observations to support continuous improvement.
- Support implementation of HSQE campaigns, toolbox talks, briefings and lessons learned.
- Work with Asset Management and O&M teams to improve practical risk controls and safe systems of work.
- Support compliance with relevant UK & Ireland HSQE legislation, RES standards and client requirements.
- Quality
- Raise, track and support close-out of quality non-conformances across site and contractor activities.
- Support document control and record-keeping within RES’ management systems.
- Support quality audits of contractor and supplier processes, in addition to health and safety audits.
- Health
- Support occupational health monitoring and health surveillance arrangements, including noise, vibration and manual handling risks.
- Review COSHH assessments for substances used on operational sites.
- Support fatigue and lone working risk management for site-based and travelling staff.
- Support wellbeing initiatives and stress risk assessments across site and office-based teams.
- Support first aid provision arrangements across operational sites.
- Environment
- Oversee waste management arrangements, including segregation, duty of care documentation and hazardous waste handling.
- Support spill prevention and response arrangements, including spill kit provision and environmental incident reporting.
- Support investigation of environmental incidents, such as spills or ecological disturbance, alongside health and safety incidents.
- Maintain awareness of site-specific environmental sensitivities, including protected species and habitats near operational renewable energy assets.
- Knowledge
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of UK & Ireland health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Understanding of audit principles and management system standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 9001.
- Awareness of CDM Regulations and their application to maintenance, refurbishment and project activities.
- Awareness of behavioural safety principles and positive safety culture.
- Understanding of contractor management and safe systems of work in operational environments.
- Understanding of quality management principles, including non-conformance management and document control.
- Awareness of occupational health risks and health surveillance requirements relevant to operational and site-based work.
- Knowledge of waste management, COSHH and environmental permitting requirements applicable to operational renewable energy sites.

Experience
Essential
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
- Knowledge of UK & Ireland HSQE legislation.
- Experience in audits, inspections or incident investigation.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across UK & Ireland sites.
- Experience applying, implementing or improving quality, health, safety and/or environmental management systems.
- Experience supporting, coaching or influencing site and office-based teams to improve HSQE performance.
Desirable
- Renewable energy, utilities, construction, infrastructure or facilities management experience.
- ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or ISO 9001 knowledge.
- CDM awareness.
- Experience using HSQE reporting systems, audit tools or action tracking systems.
- Ability to prepare concise reports, dashboards or trend summaries.
- Wind turbine climbing capability or willingness to complete training.
- Internal auditor qualification covering quality (ISO 9001) and/or environmental (ISO 14001) management systems.
- Experience of waste management, COSHH or environmental permitting in an operational or industrial setting.
- Occupational health awareness, such as experience supporting health surveillance or wellbeing programmes.
- Other Attributes
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across UK & Ireland sites, including occasional overnight stays.
