At RES Environmental (part of the Adler & Allan Group), we are at the forefront of environmental and engineering consultancy, supporting clients across the UK in delivering sustainable water management solutions. Our work spans water quality, river modelling, catchment investigations, and regulatory compliance, helping to protect communities and the environment.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking to expand our modelling capability and are seeking Modelling Consultants across all experience levels, from early career professionals through to Principal Consultants.

The Role

We are looking for talented individuals with expertise in river modelling, hydrology, and water quality investigations to join our growing technical team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality modelling studies and supporting major infrastructure and environmental projects.

Depending on your level, responsibilities may include:

  • Development and application of hydraulic and hydrological models (1D/2D river systems)
  • Undertaking water quality investigations, including pollutants, catchment processes and regulatory drivers
  • Supporting delivery of Storm Overflow Assessment Framework (SOAF) and Urban Pollution Model (UPM) studies
  • Data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of technical reports
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and clients
  • Contributing to project management, delivery, and quality assurance
  • Supporting business development and mentoring (senior/principal levels)

About You

We welcome applications from candidates at all grades, but you will ideally have:

  • Experience in river modelling, flood hydraulics, or water quality modelling
  • Familiarity with UK regulatory frameworks and industry approaches (e.g. SOAF, UPM, WFD)
  • Experience using industry-standard tools such as (or similar to):
  • Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS
  • Water quality / catchment modelling tools (e.g. InfoWorks ICM, MIKE suite)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly
  • A relevant degree (or equivalent) in engineering, environmental science, hydrology, or a related discipline

For senior and principal roles , you will also demonstrate:

  • Proven project delivery experience
  • Client engagement and stakeholder management
  • Leadership, mentoring, and technical review capabilities
