Are you a skilled Oracle Database Administrator ready to take ownership of critical systems that power operations across Europe? We’re looking for a proactive, detail-oriented DBA to join our team based in Market Harborough. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and supporting databases that underpin customer sites across the continent.
About the Role:
As a Database Administrator, you’ll manage, support, and enhance Oracle database environments spanning development, testing, and production. You’ll work closely with System Administrators to ensure our IT infrastructure remains robust, secure, and high-performing. Once settled in, you’ll have the flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity – though our on-site gym, premium coffee, and office snacks might tempt you to stay longer!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Creating and maintaining Oracle databases across the business
- Performing capacity planning and performance tuning
- Installing, patching, and upgrading Oracle RDBMS and related tools
- Planning and implementing backup and recovery strategies using RMAN
- Managing Oracle DataGuard and GoldenGate installations
- Supporting new database projects and development environments
- Administering security, resource allocation, and database objects
- Conducting impact analysis, troubleshooting, and performance evaluations (AWR)
- Writing and maintaining SQL and shell scripts
- Collaborating with customer support and internal IT teams
- Participating in managed services implementation across the wider business
What You’ll Need:
- Strong Oracle DBA experience, including installation, patching, and upgrades
- In-depth understanding of Oracle backup and recovery (RMAN)
- Proven experience with Oracle DataGuard, GoldenGate, and performance tuning
- Solid knowledge of Linux systems
- Proficiency in PL/SQL, SQL, and shell scripting
- Good understanding of Oracle security, resource management, and performance diagnostics
- Experience in managing database changes across project lifecycles
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in customer-facing environments
