This is a cracking opportunity for an experienced field-based commercial professional who enjoys being out with customers, building genuine relationships and, importantly, turning those relationships into growth.

We’re recruiting on behalf of an established national organisation with a significant network of independent retail businesses across the UK. They’re looking for someone to take ownership of a commercially important London & South East territory, becoming a trusted partner to the businesses within it.

This isn't about dropping in, having a coffee and moving onto the next account. You'll actually get to understand how each business operates, where the opportunities sit and what can be done to help them become more successful. That could mean introducing new products and services, improving product mix, supporting promotional activity, analysing performance or simply spotting an opportunity that hasn't previously been explored.

The opportunity:

  • You’ll spend much of your time out in the field, building relationships with independent business owners and developing a territory you can genuinely make your own.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Building strong, credible relationships across an established customer network
  • Understanding individual businesses and identifying opportunities for commercial growth
  • Increasing product and service penetration across your accounts
  • Developing account plans and turning commercial insight into action
  • Supporting customers with promotions, product knowledge and wider commercial initiatives
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities across the territory
  • Using sales and performance data to highlight opportunities
  • Sharing market intelligence and competitor activity with the wider business
  • Working closely with internal commercial, marketing, purchasing and supply teams
  • Delivering against regional revenue and growth targets

Who are we looking for?

We're interested in people who can demonstrate successful field-based account management and commercial growth. You’ll be comfortable managing your own territory, sitting down with business owners and decision-makers and having credible conversations about their business, not simply selling them the next product.

Experience within electricals, appliances, consumer electronics, retail, distribution, wholesale or another product-led environment would certainly be attractive. Exposure to independent retailers, dealer networks, buying groups or multi-brand environments would be particularly relevant. More important, however, is evidence that you’ve grown accounts rather than simply managed them.

You’ll be commercially curious, confident using data, comfortable challenging customers when appropriate and capable of spotting opportunities to increase revenue, margin and engagement.

What will make you successful?

You’ll probably be someone who enjoys the autonomy of being on the road but still wants to feel part of a wider commercial team. You’ll be organised, credible and naturally good with people. You’ll know how to build trust without becoming passive in the relationship and will be comfortable asking commercial questions, influencing decisions and following opportunities through.

Ultimately, success will mean your customers see you as someone who adds genuine value to their business, and the numbers demonstrate it too. This is a high-profile territory with plenty of opportunity for someone who enjoys combining relationship management with real commercial responsibility.

If you’re already working across London and the South East and feel you’ve got the relationships, commercial instinct and drive to make an impact, we’d be very interested in talking.
