Job Profile Summary

The Electrical & Instruments Lead is entrusted with providing specialized technical support and oversight for electrical and instrumentation equipment across the company\’s diverse asset groups. This pivotal role is centered on ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of facilities, with a focus on delivery and execution. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Engineering Manager, the Lead is responsible for overseeing vendor support contracts, guiding maintenance policies, and execution in alignment with Repsol Resources UK Reliability Policy and Maintenance Standard

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Discipline Engineers, fostering performance and competence management while driving towards high-performance maintenance standards.
  • Offer technical leadership within the Maintenance Function and to asset teams across the company.
  • Provide expert technical support for critical equipment failures and reliability issues related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Contribute maintainability input for non-like-for-like engineering modifications.
  • Lead the management of equipment contracts related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Conduct regular offshore observations, advising on industry developments and best practices.
  • Review technical reports, identifying opportunities for improvement to reduce operational expenditure (Opex) and enhance reliability.
  • Provide subject matter expertise input into maintenance guidelines, procedures, and specifications pertaining to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Implement approved Maintenance Strategies and validate maintainability in equipment modifications.
  • Prepare the 5-year Opex Plan and review/optimize Maintenance Strategies accordingly.
  • Prioritize Maintenance master plan activities and one-off Correctives related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams on major plant workscopes.
  • Mentor developing engineers and ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) / Operational Integrity (OI) principles
  • Accountable for ensuring effective Quality Planning in place – identify quality risks and detail how previous work Lessons are accounted for
  • Identify suitable resource to manage quality assurance and quality control activities and ensure appropriate dispensation is recorded where required
  • Ensure all quality related actions from audits, NCRs and inspections are closed out in an effective and timely manner
  • Record & share lessons for future reference in an appropriate format.

Professional Skills and Experiences

  • Proven offshore maintenance and operations background within the oil and gas sector is highly desirable
  • Must possess relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining a high level of self-motivation
  • Excellent communication skills are essential for effective coordination and collaboration
  • Display a strong drive for achieving objectives, emphasizing high performance, and maintaining a focus on timely delivery
  • Exhibit exemplary safety leadership, promoting a culture of safety and adhering to best practices
  • Track record of consistently delivering tangible results in previous roles
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities, including the capacity to inspire and guide teams toward shared goals
  • Proficiency in problem analysis, risk assessment, and solution development, with a commitment to transparent communication at all organizational levels
  • Capable of assessing the broader implications of decisions on profitability, costs, and organizational values
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively, empowering team members to make informed decisions
  • Methodically prioritize tasks, considering both urgency and importance, while actively driving change and promoting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Awareness and competence in Quality Assurance and Quality Control preferred.

Educational Qualification and Certifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field, preferably Chartered or significant technical experience.

Other Requirements

  • The role may require travelling offshore for certain business requirements.
