The Reproductive Justice Initiative envisions a world where reproductive health and rights are fully realised, free from social, economic, and political barriers. We are seeking a qualified, values-driven individual to ensure our charity's financial health and sustainability.
As our Treasurer, your expertise will directly empower us to pursue our mission with confidence, integrity, and ambition. You will be the guardian of our financial health, ensuring every pound is managed responsibly and directed purposefully towards advancing reproductive justice. Your strategic oversight will enable us to plan for the long term, navigate financial challenges, and seize opportunities for growth. By translating complex financial information for the Board, you will ensure informed, transparent decision-making at the highest level. Your stewardship will build trust with funders, partners, and the communities we serve, demonstrating our commitment to accountability and ethical practice. With your guidance, we can invest confidently in community-led research, amplify marginalised voices through policy work, and build a sustainable organisation capable of delivering lasting change.
As a charity that focuses on the sexual & reproductive health (SRH) rights and experiences of people of colour (PoC) and other minoritised individuals, we are looking for trustees who have lived experience of discrimination. In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, the treasurer's duties include the following:
- Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements.
- Presenting financial reports to the board in a format that helps the board understand the charity’s financial position.
- Advising the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities.
- Liaising with any paid staff and volunteers about financial matters.
- Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans.
- Working with professional advisors.
- Overseeing the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts.
- Supporting the following financial duties, such as bookkeeping, budgeting and preparation of reports.
As a Trustee, you will hold a vital governance role, sharing responsibility with the rest of the board for ensuring our charity fulfils its mission effectively, sustainably, and in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. We are a small charity and are looking for an individual with the time to take a hands-on approach to finance management. You will chair the finance committee, work closely with the Chair and Chief Executive to provide strategic oversight of the organisation's finances. This includes overseeing budgeting, monitoring financial performance, advising on financial risk, and ensuring robust financial controls and reporting are in place. You will present clear, accessible financial updates to the Board and support the annual audit or independent examination process. This is a rewarding opportunity to apply your skills and experience at a strategic level, helping to shape the future of our charity and make a lasting impact on the community we serve.
