We are seeking a talented and driven Junior Designer, specializing in Knitwear and Jersey, to join our creative team within the Mainline Design department. In this role, you will take ownership of the design and development process for knitwear and jersey styles from initial concept through to final launch, with the support of the Senior designer.
You will play a hands-on role in translating seasonal design direction into compelling product. Your understanding of knit construction, yarn properties, gauge, stitch techniques will be central to developing styles that are both technically precise and aesthetically distinctive. You will contribute to trend research, seasonal concept development, and colour and yarn story building, bringing fresh and innovative ideas that push boundaries while staying true to the brand's identity.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with the technical, sampling, and sourcing teams, providing clear and detailed design briefs, reviewing and commenting on proto samples, and driving the product through the critical path with accuracy and urgency, whilst meeting deadlines. This role calls for someone with a strong creative eye, a thorough knowledge of knitwear and jersey construction, and the organisational discipline to manage multiple styles across a fast-paced calendar. You are highly skilled in CAD drawing either in Procreate or Illustrator. This skill is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Present designs from concept through to final product, ensuring all timelines and quality expectations are consistently met.
- Conceptualize and interpret the vision of the Head of Mainline, ensuring alignment with brand direction and aesthetics.
- Design and develop creative, on-brand products that adhere to the distinct design standards and attention to detail set by Represent.
- Research and analyse emerging trends for upcoming seasons, leveraging resources such as Vintage Archive, WGSN, Vogue runway, competitor shopping, in key fashion capitals.
- Cultivate commercial awareness and market knowledge to support design decisions and product direction.
- Help prepare and present mood boards and design concepts, working collaboratively with the rest of the design team.
- Actively contribute to design direction meetings by presenting new ideas and creative solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the graphic design team to integrate design elements and ensure cohesive product development.
- Select fabrics, trims, and accessories, prioritizing sustainability wherever possible, in line with the brand’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
- Provide both creative and technical input to ensure all garments are designed with fit, function, and aesthetic excellence in mind.
- Work alongside the Senior Designer to explore new fabric, trim, and logo development opportunities.
- Ensure that tech packs meet the highest standards, facilitating accurate translation by factories for the production of quality prototypes.
- Strictly adhere to the product development critical path, working closely with the product team to execute a well-balanced and commercially viable range.
- Manage day-to-day design responsibilities in alignment with the goals set by the senior designer.
- Independently plan and organize workload to efficiently meet design deadlines.
