Role Overview

We are seeking a technically hands-on and client-focused Cloud Engineer to build, deploy, manage, and optimise cloud-native solutions across a growing client portfolio. Working closely with Cloud Architects and delivery teams, you will translate architectural designs into production-ready solutions on Google Cloud Platform. The role spans infrastructure, data, and AI workloads, with a primary focus on engineering while also contributing to solution design discussions and supporting client engagements with technical expertise. You will deliver end-to-end solutions, from building data pipelines and deploying AI/ML workloads to provisioning infrastructure and automating deployments through CI/CD. This is a London-based role.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, deploy, and maintain Google Cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (primarily Terraform), ensuring repeatable and version-controlled environments.
  • Build and manage containerised workloads using Docker, GKE, and Cloud Run, alongside production-grade CI/CD pipelines.
  • Design, build, and maintain data and analytics platforms using services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer.
  • Implement and support AI/ML platforms on Google Cloud, including Vertex AI, Model Garden, and Gemini-based tooling, contributing to Agentic AI solutions.
  • Support cloud migration and modernisation initiatives using lift-and-shift, re-platforming, or re-architecting approaches.
  • Apply security best practices, including IAM, VPC networking, encryption, and compliance controls to meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in client engagements such as discovery sessions, technical workshops, and progress reviews, communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with architects, delivery leads, and engineering teams, contributing to best practices, knowledge sharing, and supporting junior team development.

About the Candidate

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ hands-on experience in a Cloud Engineering role, ideally within a consultancy or professional services environment.
  • Holds at least one Google Cloud certification (e.g. Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud Developer) and proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python, Go, or Shell).
  • Proven experience building and deploying solutions on Google Cloud Platform across infrastructure, data, and application domains.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE), and CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, GoCD).
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking and security fundamentals, including VPCs, IAM, firewall rules, encryption, and access management within GCP.
  • Working knowledge of data engineering on Google Cloud, including pipelines and analytical platforms using BigQuery, Composer, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML workloads on GCP, including exposure to Vertex AI, BigQuery ML, Model Garden, or Gemini-based tooling.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive, growth-oriented mindset, ability to navigate ambiguity, deliver in fast-paced environments.
  • Eligible for UK Government SC-level security clearance.
