Summary Of Job Description
The Associate Director, Facilities and Engineering is responsible for the routine management of the Facilities Department at the Milton Park site.
The department ensures all equipment and utilities operate as required to support domestic, c GMP, and general laboratory operations.
It manages all building systems (e. g., monitoring systems, security, alarms and HVAC) and coordinates additional third‑party or remote support such as site cleaning, IT, telephone, and data management.
This position is based in our Milton Park location and typically requires a 5‑day on‑site expectation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and organize the Facilities Department, including Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, and Calibration.
- Operate and maintain all utilities and systems required to support general operations, including associated c GMP documentation.
- Maintain and calibrate all equipment and systems, coordinating work to agreed schedules.
- Maintain close liaison with the Framingham Facilities Senior Manager/management to align Facilities practices, processes, and insights across Framingham and Milton Park sites.
- Maintain Facilities documentation systems, including equipment files, calibration files, etc., in a c GMP‑compliant manner.
- Provide functional input into c GMP investigations, CAPAs, and change controls to deliver in line with Site QMS targets.
- Ensure the function is always c GMP audit ready and support Facilities as an SME in audits.
- Coordinate, oversee, and review work performed by external or third‑party contractors, including project management and issuance of work permits.
- Manage waste, including chemical and biological waste, trade effluent, and safe disposal of waste containing or potentially containing GMOs or live viral material.
Complete duty‑of‑care audits for waste management.
- Support site Health and Safety (IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH NGC trained) and serve as Facility Emergency Coordinator / Safety Contact.
- Manage the site call‑out team, out‑of‑hours response, and business continuity plan.
- Maintain Facilities KPIs and SLAs.
- Line‑manage and develop the Facilities team.
- Provide input into facilities budget planning and OPEX.
- Other Responsibilities
- Deputize for Director as needed during absences or representation at meetings.
- Serve as Replimune liaison/contact with landlords, local authorities, utilities, and general service providers.
- Act as a key contact for coordination of general site communications and support for Social Committee activities.
- Define and manage projects, assisting Engineering contractors with design, installation, and modification of equipment/utilities, and review and approve project documentation and reports.
- Represent Facilities at inter‑departmental meetings and interact with external vendors as necessary.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Educational Requirements
- A BA or BSc in Engineering, Science, or an equivalent related discipline.
Experience And Skill Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of building management experience, preferably in a c GMP environment.
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrable line‑management experience with individuals and teams.
- Field experience in building management systems, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical safety including periodic inspection, PAT testing, Lockout/Tagout procedures, Health and Safety, and acting as Fire Safety Manager.
- c GMP training and documentation experience.
- Experience with biological and chemical waste management.
- Experience with asset‑management software (e. g., Blue Mountain or similar).
- Demonstrated experience operating in highly cross‑functional environments; ability to build relationships at all levels across the organization.
- Good communication and organization skills.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, etc.).
